Abstract

NARDI, Pamela; CENCI, Cláudia Mara Bosetto; BORTOLIN, Denice  and  NEVES, Márcio Medina. Money management concerning children in divorced couples. Rev. SPAGESP [online]. 2017, vol.18, n.1, pp.115-127. ISSN 1677-2970.

This study investigated money management between divorced parents concerning their children. A qualitative research was conducted with 10 couples of parents already divorced or in process of divorcing, with 5 to 15 year-old children. Instruments used were sociodemographic questionnaire and semi-structured interview. Results indicate that, after divorce, the disruption of conjugal bond significantly harms parental bond. Thus, financial issues become a constant theme of dispute between parents. Their disagreements regard to alimony amount, child's education and the financial investment necessary to this demand, and present difficulties in communication regarding their child's care.

Keywords : money management; divorced couples; children.
