Abstract

A disease, and subsequent hospitalization, can bring to people at any time of their lives anxiety and fear. Understanding the psychological peculiarities of that case close to adolescent’s task is to be relevant. The research aimed to understand the relationship between adolescents who have had long or successive hospitalizations and medical institution, and with their diseases. The method used was the clinical-quality and the resources were semi-directed interviews and photographs produced by the adolescents. It was identified each adolescent realized the disease so unique way, depending primarily the limitations that they generated in their lives. In relation to the hospital, was perceived as sad, invasive, and limiting the freedom that gave no opportunity to participate in treatment. Moreover, felt they were deprived of living with their families, group the most valued presence as needed to support the moments of hospitalization. Adolescents showed therefore wish to be considered in assets and its peculiarities in the hospital environment.
