Abstract

PRISCO, Ana Paula Kalil; MARTINS, Cíntia Ribeiro  and  NUNES, Maiana Farias Oliveira. Studies of self-efficacy in career development in Brazil: A review. Rev. bras. orientac. prof [online]. 2013, vol.14, n.1, pp.111-118. ISSN 1984-7270.

This study aimed to analyze the scientific production of articles, theses and dissertations on self-efficacy in the context of career development. We performed a systematic review of scientific papers, theses and dissertations. We analyzed 15 studies published between 2005 and 2011, whose first authors were from educational institutions in the Southeast and South of the country, mostly consisting in empirical researches, conducted with adolescents or young adults, with samples selected by convenience. Studies of self-efficacy in this context are recent and scarse in Brazil, especially in relation to the instruments used. We discussed the need for increasing research in the area and expanding the possibilities for further application of the results.

Keywords : psychological assessment; social cognitive theory; self-efficacy; career guidance; career development.
