Abstract

COLOMBO, Greice  and  PRATI, Laíssa Eschiletti. Maturity for occupational election, social skills and labor market insertion. Rev. bras. orientac. prof [online]. 2014, vol.15, n.2, pp.201-212. ISSN 1679-3390.

The objective of this study was to identify possible relationships between maturity of career choice, social skills of adolescents and integration into the labor market. The study included 67 high school students from a public school and a private one. Data were collected collectively through sociodemographic form, the Social Skills Inventory for Adolescents and Maturity Scale for Professional Choice. The results showed a positive relationship between maturity and social skills. Youth who did not work also showed greater maturity than the ones who were working. These results suggest that social skills and work during youth are important aspects for the development of career maturity and they should be considered in interventions of career guidance.

Keywords : adolescence; high school students; labor market; social skills.
