Abstract

BARRETTA, João Paulo. The problem of meaning in Freud's psychoanalysis. Winnicott e-prints [online]. 2009, vol.4, n.1e2, pp.1-17. ISSN 1679-432X.

A current interpretation among experts in psychoanalysis says there is a methodological ambiguity in Freud's theory, since it simultaneously explains and interprets some events (the formations of the unconscious). This paper aims to clarify such ambiguity and show how it is possible. This will be done through the exposition of the notion of meaning in Freud's work.

Keywords : meaning; interpretation; final-representation.
