Abstract

GRIMALDO MUCHOTRIGO. Healthy styles of life in a group of students of a private university in Lima City. Liberabit [online]. 2005, vol.11, n.11, pp.75-82. ISSN 1729-4827.

The present study has two objectives to identify and compare the healthy life styles of the university students between genders. The sample was formed by 231 students from a private university in Lima, between males and females from the first and second cycles of a Psychology School. The instrument used was The Healthy Life Style Questionnaire, which identifies the healthy life styles of three factors: Factor I (Game - Sport Activities), Factor 2 (Family - Academic Satisfaction) and Factor 3 (Food Consumption). For the data analysis were used the frequency distribution charts, percentage charts, Levene’s Test and T ´s Test, for equal arithmetic mean. In general, it is concluded that there are good healthy life styles. However, in each factor, the students do not practice games activities regularly and about the sport activities they prefer individual sports (long walk) and collective sports (aerobics). Talking about the food consumption, they prefer to eat bread, cereal, root vegetables, fresh fruits, cooked and raw leaf vegetables, meat, sodas and fast food. In relation to the differences about gender, there were no differences in each factor, as general factors.
