Abstract

NASCIMENTO, Maria Lívia do  and  SCHEINVAR, Estela. Infancy: discourses of protection, practices of exclusion. Estud. pesqui. psicol. [online]. 2005, vol.5, n.2, pp.51-66. ISSN 1808-4281.

The present article discusses the historical production of some of the called children’s protection social equipment, problematizing the political contexts in which they emerge. The analyses are based on experiences developed by the authors in Children and Youth Judgements and in the Tutelary Councils. These experiences take the authors to question social institutions as infancy, assistance, family, youth, in between others. The debates present in this text point out that the tutelary relation, as well as the protection policies many times result into practices of exclusion, not necessarily guaranteeing the rights conquered and established in law. Therefor, it is necessary to think and analyse the historical way that protection relationships involving infancy and youth have been produced.

Keywords : Infancy; Protection; Exclusion.
