Abstract

D’URSO, Lourdes Aparecida  and  JURDI, Andréa Perosa Saigh. Crazy about Reading: Expressive Workshops in a Children and Youth Psychosocial Care Center. Estud. pesqui. psicol. [online]. 2022, vol.22, n.3, pp.1184-1202.  Epub May 06, 2024. ISSN 1808-4281.  https://doi.org/10.12957/epp.2022.69819.

The aim of this article is to discuss the meanings of reading and writing for adolescents at a Psychosocial Care Center for Children and Adolescents in the city of São Paulo, accompanying expressive workshops and their developments. This is an intervention research, using a field diary. Reading and written language were understood as cultural objects that promote social interaction and allow overcoming crises, according to the studies of anthropologist Michèle Petit. In the groups, there were games, reading of texts of different discursive genres and writing activities, as well as visits to cultural institutions. Data analysis was inspired by the work of Mikhail Bakhtin. The study made it possible to understand singular aspects of the relationship with reading and enabled more significant written productions by the participants. An offshoot of the study was the making of a new cycle of workshops, which exposed their productions in the service’s common area.

Keywords : children and youth psychosocial care center; expressive workshops; language; reading and writing.
