Abstract
BELLE, Andressa Henke and CAMINHA, Renato Maiato. Cognitive-behavioral group therapy in children with ADHD: studying a clinical model. Rev. bras.ter. cogn. [online]. 2005, vol.1, n.2, pp.103-114. ISSN 1808-5687.
This paper presents the results of a research that aimed to evaluate the efficacy of cognitive-behavioral group therapy in children with ADHD. The research has been developed at PIPAS (Programa Interdisciplinar de Promoção e Atenção a Saúde). Twenty male subjects ranging from eight and eleven years old (M=9,35; d.p=1,39). These subjects have been evaluated before and after the psychotherapy and (or) after the experimental time, through the following instruments: ADHD Scale teachers version; MTA (SNAP)- IV applied with parents and ADHD Protocol to parents. The results point to a significant reduction of the intensity of ADHD, in school and home. Positive changes were also observed in relation to parents´ perception of their kids, changes in the behavioral coping strategies and reduction of complaints from school. Having in mind those results, other studies are suggested, with bigger samples that evaluate the efficacy of cognitive-behavioral group therapy in children with ADHD.
