MELO, Lúcia Petrucci de; CARLOTTO, Mary Sandra; RODRIGUEZ, Sandra Yvonne Spiendler and DIEHL, Liciane. Coping in workers: a systematic review of national literature. Arq. bras. psicol. [online]. 2016, vol.68, n.3, pp.125-144. ISSN 1809-5267.
The study aimed to examine empirical articles on coping strategies used by Brazilian workers published in Brazil from 2009 to 2013 as well as to analyze the variables associated with them. The search was performed on the databases Lilacs, SciELO Brasil and PePSIC. From the 655 articles identified, 18 met the selection criteria. Results found that 44% of the studies used Folkman and Lazarus Inventory (1984) to assess the coping, and that stress (22%) was the primary variable associated. Among the strategies used by workers problem solving (100%) and confrontation (55%) were the most used and distancing (33%) and accepting responsibility (22%) were the least used. It is possible to note the importance of conducting further studies with probabilistic samples that allow assessing the cause and effect relations for the phenomena, in addition to longitudinal studies that enable advanced knowledge on the possibilities of change.
