Abstract

TEODORO, Elizabeth Fátima  and  CHAVES, Wilson Camilo. From natural difference to moral difference between the sexes: a Freudian perspective. Psicol. pesq. [online]. 2019, vol.13, n.3, pp.1-25. ISSN 1982-1247.  https://doi.org/10.34019/1982-1247.2019.v13.26498.

This work aims to demonstrate that the natural discourse of the difference between the sexes that figured in the nineteenth century, in fact, points to a moral discourse of this difference. It consists, therefore, in a psychoanalytical theoretical investigation focusing on Sigmund Freud and some authors who analyze issues concerning the difference between the sexes. As a result of this reflection, it is clear that the assumptions that enabled the birth of psychoanalysis do not escape the scientific attempts to establish the nature of male and female sexualities. However, by shifting the focus of sexuality from the biological to the psychic, Freud operates an original reading that highlights the psychic marks of a moral discourse that shows its resonance to a large extent in contemporary clinical practice.

Keywords : Freud; Psychoanalysis and Culture; Sexuality.
