Conjugal violence is something historic that means action taken without care or use of excessive force to cause damage to the partner. The objective is through correlation and regression, verify the relation of forms of legitimation of violence, with self-esteem, life satisfaction and personality. 305 respondents participated in the general population, mostly female (63%) aged between 18 and 62 years (M = 28.45, SD = 10.65), residents of Paraíba (88.9%). We used Beliefs in Couple Violence Scale, Rosenberg Self-Esteem Scale, Ten Item Personality Inventory and Life Satisfaction Scale, analyzed in IBM SPSS Statistics 21. The results indicated a negative correlation between the factors legitimizing violence and self-esteem, as well as with personality factors.
