With technological advances and the increase of distance education, training activities have increased their potential range, raising concern about the evaluation of their results. This study evaluated the first action of a Learning Collaboration Network of Federal Universities. The sample consisted of 685 participants who completed questionnaires before and after the Quality Service course. Four Likert scales were used: a) Expectations, b) Instrumentality, c) Perceived importance, and d) Perceived mastery. Factor analysis yielded good psychometric indicators for all scales. We calculated the Index of Training Needs using a formula that included the scores from the scale of importance of the skills being developed in the course and the scale of prior mastery of these skills. Regression analysis showed that the aspects of quality of service found in Training Needs Analysis (TNA), instrumentality, and expectation of improved service performance explained 13% of the impact of training in depth. These results allow us to discuss how TNA should be carried out with a vision that goes beyond the individual, considering groups, teams, and organizational indicators.
