Abstract

BITTENCOURT, Maria Inês Garcia de Freitas  and  VILHENA, Junia de. Excessive mother, lesser father: a psychoanalitic reading of the movies poziţia copilului - child's pose. Trivium [online]. 2014, vol.6, n.2, pp.90-98. ISSN 2176-4891.

This article presents a reading of the movies "Child's Pose" taken as an illustration of those family relations where the weakening of the father function and the persistence of an over protection related to the "mother function" goes through the maturing process of children and youngsters, thus creating conditions that difficult or block the construction of a structure of values and autonomy needed to make healthy choices throughout different times of life. The concept of "good enough mother", developed by Winnicott along his work (1975) in a dialog with the Freudian concept of narcissism, is seized as the conducting wire of this trajectory.

Keywords : Paternal function; Maternal function; Narcissism; Ethics.
