Abstract

STOPPA, Robertha Gabardo; WANDERBROOCKE, Ana Cláudia Nunes de Souza  and  AZEVEDO, Adriano Valério dos Santos. Health professionals taking care of users with suicidal behavior in Brazil: systematic review. Rev. Psicol. Saúde [online]. 2020, vol.12, n.4, pp.65-80. ISSN 2177-093X.  https://doi.org/10.20435/pssa.vi.1065.

Brazil is among the ten countries with the highest absolute number of suicide deaths, which indicates urgency in dealing with this issue with health care teams. Through a search in databases LILACS, MEDLINE, BDENF, Index Psychology and PePSIC, it was aimed to carry out a systematic review, in the period from 2008 to 2018, referring to the national production of articles on health professionals in the care of the person who made a suicide attempt. We found ten articles: three with professionals in primary health care, two articles in Psychosocial Care Centers, and five articles in Urgency and Emergency points (UPA and General Hospital). Reading the articles made it possible to identify health professionals' conceptions, actions, and difficulties. It was concluded that providing care to people who attempt suicide is still a challenge, requiring preparation and continued training in mental health.

Keywords : suicide; suicide attempt; health professionals; mental health.
