Abstract

CARVALHO, Janine Pestana  and  MACIAZEKI-GOMES, Rita de Cássia. Psychology in Primary Care: Interfaces between Expectations and Possibilities for Action. Rev. Psicol. Saúde [online]. 2022, vol.14, n.3, pp.61-76.  Epub July 08, 2024. ISSN 2177-093X.  https://doi.org/10.20435/pssa.v14i3.1856.

This research sought to analyze the interfaces between the expectations of the team of a Basic Family Health Unit (UBSF) and the possibilities of psychology in Primary Care (AB). This is qualitative research using participatory methodology. The production of data was based on interviews with professionals from the UBSF and with psychologists, and on the records of the researcher, the first author of this article. From the use of Minayo’s Thematic Analysis, two central thematic axes emerged: (i) Expectations of the Team regarding the action of Psychology in the AB; and (ii) Possibilities of action of Psychology in the AB. These axes revealed the existence of divergences between what is expected and the possibilities of action of psychology, and overcoming the individual clinical model and the precariousness of public policies as the main challenges to be faced, in favor of an integral and humanized care that promotes health. The production of spaces for dialogue and exchange of experiences, from the perspective of Permanent Education in Health, can bring the expectations of the team closer to the possibilities of action of the psychologist.

Keywords : psychology; primary health care; family health strategy; public health policies; participatory research.
