Abstract

ASBAHR, Flávia da Silva Ferreira. Review of the design of psychology education schooling from a critical perspective. Psicol. Ensino & Form. [online]. 2014, vol.5, n.1, pp.20-31. ISSN 2177-2061.

School/educational psychology has been established as an area of expertise and research in recent years. Research on professional practices shows that although advances have been made in the discourse of professionals in the field, a more critical understanding of the process of schooling in general is required. The traditional practice of psychodiagnostics, (the application of psychological tests and assisting children with disorders) still remains as the dominating professional practice. This scenario makes us reflect on psychologist training for the purpose of working in schools and other educational institutions. In this article, we will reflect on the theoretical and practical training of school psychology at the undergraduate level. Two central points will be discussed: public policies in undergraduate psychology education, and the integration of students into educational institutions (especially schools) in order to understand and analyse their reality and institutional dynamics. KEYWORDS: School psychology. Psychology training. Public policies in education. Psychology education.

Keywords : School psychology; Psychology training; Public policies in education; Psychology education.
