The article presents considerations concerning the thesis Genserico Aragão de Souza Pinto. We note that despite the spread of psychoanalytic theory in Brazil have happened between thinkers who discussed the Brazilians was to psychiatry that provided the first thesis of psychoanalysis in Brazil, presented the medical school of Rio de Janeiro in 1914. Remember that psychoanalysis comes to our country preceded by a geopolitical alternative marked by opposition to France. After presenting the propositions about the course subjects of surgical medical sciences, it appears that psychoanalysis emerges as a speech without explicit implications for a method of treatment. Finally we present the five clinical cases discussed at the end of the thesis. It is noteworthy that of the five cases, only one is a Brazilian. It follows the hypothesis that qualified patients psychoanalysis are "modern". It can be seen from the description of the symptoms and the cut that the doctor makes the patient reports a trend appreciation of modern forms of suffering. In contrast to this, the doctor appears in condition family counselor and guardian of sexual asceticism couples.
