Abstract

Detection of dyslexia should occur early, with the development of instruments that allow teachers to perceive the signs being necessary for the Brazilian context. The aim of the study was to construct and validate a dyslexia signs screening instrument for teachers. The psychometric parameters were tested considering content, construct and criterion validity. For the three types of validity, the results were satisfactory The instrument presented a two-factor structure with a reliability level above .97. The ROC curve results showed high sensitivity and specificity, distinguishing children with and without signs of dyslexia. The 30-item instrument had psychometric parameters contributing to the identification of signs of dyslexia by teachers.
