How is psychoanalysis situated in universities? Witch are the possibilities and limitations for a beginner (in both research and in psychoanalysis) to actually perform a research on this area of knowledge? Around this theme, it can be identified in Brazil two main lines: authors who don't emphasize the dilemma between psychoanalysis and university, recognizing special value to the university for psychoanalysis instruction; and authors who consider psychoanalysis instruction as a previous condition to enter into this research area. Despite possible contradictions, it is safe to say that psychoanalysis finds in the University a breeding ground for its production and discussion. Regarding the young researcher, we believe that a twist in the relations of cause and effect is interesting, making it possible to produce, by the involvement with research in psychoanalysis at the university, an inaugural meeting, which points to the direction of an analytical training.
