ROSA, Helena Rinaldi. Human Figure Drawing’s validity for Goodenough-Harris Test and Koppitz Maturity Indicators in São Paulo children’s. Bol. psicol [online]. 2008, vol.58, n.128, pp.1-14. ISSN 0006-5943.

The Human Figure Drawing has been often used to assess child development. The assessment systems more known and more utilized internationally are the presented by Goodenough (1926), revised by Harris (1963) and the proposed by Koppitz (1973). The objective of this study was to investigate the concomitant validity between R-2 Test and the Human Figure Drawing, by both systems. The R-2, Non Verbal Intelligence Test for Children, evaluates the general factor of intelligence. The sample was composed by 1540 children, from 5 to 11.5 years old, of both sexes, students from São Paulo city. The children were assessed individually being asked initially to Draw a Man and the R-2 Test. Correlations between R-2 and Koppitz system was 0.575 and with Goodenough-Harris was 0.606 to global sample. Correlation between drawing assessments was 0.899, which is high and significant. It was concluded that both point systems of Man Drawing are suitable for children’s cognitive assessment.
