SHIMIZU, Vitoria Tiemi  y  MIRANDA, Mônica Carolina. Sensory processing in children with ADHD: a revision of the literature. Rev. psicopedag. [online]. 2012, vol.29, n.89, pp.256-268. ISSN 0103-8486.

Structured by the interaction with the environment, the learning process depends on integrity of Sensory Processing related to neurological function that organizes and processes sensory information from one's body and the environment, in order to produce appropriate functional responses. Sensory Processing Difficulties may lead to impairments in motor and behavioral performance, but also in the learning. There are few studies about sensorimotor dimension in ADHD, and the studies about the relationship between sensory processing and behavioral symptomatology of ADHD are even poorer. This literature review attempts to characterize the main aspects of Sensory Processing and of ADHD, as well as the relationship between these dimensions. It also attempts to discuss and contribute to the understanding of the role of Sensory Processing in behavioral responses and in the learning process, as well as its possible contribution to symptomatology present in ADHD, indicating the importance of a multidimensional approach to ADHD framework in childhood.
