The present paper aims at presenting Freud’s historical notion of listening, signaling its differences from “hearing”. It discusses some implications of listening in Lacanian psychoanalysis and in education. It is also its purpose to clarify that listening in psychoanalysis is guided by the subject’s singularity and has important consequences for him.
