Psicol. teor. prat. [online]. 2016, vol.18, n.2, pp.103-116. ISSN 1516-3687. https://doi.org/10.15348/1980-6906/psicologia.v18n2p103-116.
This study investigated the relationship of depressive symptoms with the perception of family support in elderly and adults with Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD). Participated 60 patients, between 20 and 85 years, distributed in two groups: one group with 60 years and more and another group aged up to 59 years, in hemodialysis treatment. We used a protocol with socio-demographic data, the Beck Depression Inventory (BDI-II) and the Inventory of Family-Support Perception (IPSF). The BDI-II pointed minimum depression levels and the IPSF high levels of perception of family support, and found significant differences between the groups. There was a negative correlation (r = -0.36; p = 0.01) between the BDI-II and the IPSF, indicating that the higher the perception of family support, less depressive symptoms.
