The present article focuses on the evolution of studies about intelligence, presenting the multiple intelligences in a modular approach. It highlights the importance of both intrapersonal and interpersonal intelligences, present in the activities of health professionals when assisting patients, emphasizing essential values that are built along the child development and practiced in the patient-professional relationship. The paper also points out the great necessity for those professionals to make use of intrapersonal and interpersonal intelligences to guarantee the bond with their clients, welcoming them with affection and offering them a respectful and effective service. © Ciências & Cognição 2006; Vol. 09: xxx-xxx.
