Resumen

FERREIRA, Isabela Maria Freitas et al. Criteria for accreditation and training of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy supervisor around the world and the implications for the Brazilian context. Rev. bras.ter. cogn. [online]. 2021, vol.17, n.1, pp.48-57. ISSN 1808-5687.  https://doi.org/10.5935/1808-5687.20210007.

There are still few guidelines on the skills of the clinical supervisor in psychotherapy. On the other hand, supervision in Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is recognized as an essential component of the therapists development. The aim of this paper is to identify existing guidelines on the accreditation and training of CBT supervisor around the world and to reflect the implications for the Brazilian context. Based on a documentary research, the study looked for guidelines in 15 CBT associations, resulting in 4 documents. As main results, the guidelines showed that the candidate for supervisor must have prior therapist training, in addition to training for the supervisor role, which includes activities of continued professional development and development of specific skills. In Brazil there is no supervisor accreditation in CBT, but it is understood that there is an initial movement to qualify this professional activity. It was concluded that the training of supervisors is a broad process, with different stages and criteria. It is believed that the dissemination of activities for the training of supervisors in CBT may favor the quality of therapists and psychotherapeutic services offered in the country.
