IMONIANA, Bernardete Bezerra Silva. Crise de identidade em adolescentes portadores do Diabetes Mellitus do tipo 1. Psicol. Am. Lat. [online]. 2006, n.7. ISSN 1870-350X.
Adolescence is a dynamic process between infancy and adult age: starts with puberty and terminates with the acquisition of personal identity, as well as development of life projects and integration into the society. This study aims at identifying how an adolescent comes to bear a chronic disease such as diabetes. To that end, we use the qualitative approach adpoting the semi-structured questionnaires. Five subjects participated in this investigation with ages ranging from 10 to 17 having had the diagnosis of mellitus diabetes type 1. Upon analysis of the data we organize it in three themes: the unfolded impact upon diagnosis on the adolescence; living with changes and the fetching of identity. It follows that in spite of difficulty faced by the diabetes porter adolescent, one would affirm that the acquaintanceship with the disease is not a problem of a greater proportion that incapacitates the adolescent. Finding reveils as been important, the need for comprehension, much social support and effective educational sensitization concerning diabetes.
