RANIERI, Leandro Penna y BARREIRA, Cristiano Roque Antunes. The experienced sport overcoming by athletes with visual disability: phenomenological analysis. Rev. bras. psicol. esporte [online]. 2010, vol.3, n.2, pp.46-60. ISSN 1981-9145.
The goal of this research is to understand the role of sports in the life of athletes with visual disability focusing on the notion of overcoming from the reports of their lived experiences. It seeks, through the phenomenological analysis of four recorded and transcribed interviews with athletes with visual disability, to understand what this experience is and how it manifests. The overcoming in sport, according to the analysis of the reports, can be viewed as a singular dynamic of lived experiences that are engaged face an obstacle - impose and favored by the codes and standards that outline the actions of sports practice - demanding a growing and challenging tension, in body, psychic and spiritual dimensions, and being anchored, as landmark, in the intensity of a hyletic tactile moment recognized as superior and full of value to the point of taking an existential function in the life of these athletes.
