This research seeks to understand of the effect of digital technology on learning, writing ability, and school performance. It constitutes a way to improve the quality of education. This article is aimed at analyzing the factors related to the use of electronic devices and children’s writing ability today and considering school performance associated with written language. The method used for this study was a narrative literature review with a qualitative approach. A selection of relevant texts to the subject of this research was carried out, scientific articles produced from the path of Digital Technology in line with the Education of Manual Writing were investigated, prioritizing the last ten years, and, for the theoretical foundation, we sought to pioneer authors in the area of the physical-motor manuscript based on Neurosciences and Brazilian Education. The articles studied showed that handwriting is an essential aspect of school performance, as well as in the individual’s sociocultural context. The results revealed the need to combine digital technology in mobile devices, such as cell phones and tablets, in favor of learning writing, adding value to new generations of students in various aspects. Regarding the fine motor skill involved in the writing learning process, the results showed that fine motor skill has a crucial and qualitative function for the writing learning process. Depending on the types of objects most experienced, there may be a change in its integration and functional quality.
