The Body Image Disturbance (BID) is a nuclear indication of obesity, characterized by an incapacity of adequately notice the self body size, influenced by the experience with the body weight and shape. The aim of this study was to assess the obese women perception of their self image. Qualitative study done with three obese women between 35 and 40 years old, aleatory picked up. As implement to evaluate the graphic manifestation of the BID, was used the version of the Karen Machover´s Draw a Person Test, according to Zukerfeld. After the test, was also applied a questionary to the obtainment of extra data. Results appointed that two of the three women researched showed BID, with the beginning of the obesity in childhood and with grade III of the Body Mass Index (BMI), according to WHO. One of the partners doesn´t showed BID, and his obesity began when it already was a grown-up, with the I grade of obesity. Then was observed the relation of BID with the beginning of obesity and the BMI grade. The importance of the health professional to pay attention to BID is noticed as a resource to the understanding of the psychological aspects related to obesity.
