The Brazilian Way (“jeitinho brasileiro”, in Potuguese) is a social strategy that aims to solve problems through negotiations. Despite the importance of developing this skill from childhood, there is a lack of assessment tools for children. The objective of this study is to adapt the Questionnaire on the Brazilian Way - Individual Version for children by presenting evidence of validity and accuracy. Initially, we have worked with a sample of 131 participants. However, in an effort to primarily access children, eight participants were excluded due to being over the age of 13. Thus, the study works with a sample of 123 children, with a majority being girls (61.2%), with a mean age of 10.5 years (SD = 1.78), distributed from 1st to 7th grade of Elementary School, as follows: 7.4% from 1st and 2nd; 39.9% from 3rd and 4th; 37.4% from 5th and 6th; and 15.4% from 7th grade. After conducting exploratory factors analysis, the results indicate a coherent structure composed of two factors, whose content related to understanding the Brazilian Way ("jeitinho") runs through antisocial behaviors (11 items) and creativity (5 items). Together, these factors explain 37.5% of the variance and show satisfactory internal consistency, providing a useful measure for research and assessment of the construct with children samples.

Palabras clave : Brazil; childhood; creativity; antisocial behavior..
