PAULA JUNIOR, Gerson Vieira de  y  CRUZ, Amadeu Roselli. Interpersonal problems in therapeutic community: an exploratory study. Pesqui. prát. psicossociais [online]. 2017, vol.12, n.2, pp.388-404. ISSN 1809-8908.

This study investigated interpersonal problems in therapeutic communities for drug addicts. Four residents and two monitors were interviewed individually. Content analysis was used to treat the data. According to the participants, the disagreements in the communities where they have taken place occur in ordinary everyday circumstances and involve small discussions and mouth-to-mouths. In some cases, they become more intense and threatening and physical aggression may occur. The conduct of the monitors in these cases is well diversified. There are divergences regarding beliefs about the effects of interpersonal problems on treatment: a) they disrupt treatment; b) they can be disruptive, but can also serve as an opportunity for development; c) they disrupt only those who are uninterested in the treatment, are they are used as excuses to give up treatment. It is concluded that monitors and other professionals should implement strategies to reduce and manage interpersonal problems, being cautious about the manipulations of residents.
