COSTA, Emerson Luís Nunes; LEVANDOWSKI, Daniela Centenaro  y  GRZYBOWSKI, Luciana Suárez. Profile of postpartum women and satisfaction with maternal and child health care. Rev. Psicol. Saúde [online]. 2022, vol.14, n.1, pp.91-105. ISSN 2177-093X.  https://doi.org/10.20435/pssa.v14i1.1379.

INTRODUCTION: The quality of care during pregnancy, birth, and puerperium contribute to maternal and child health. METHODS: Quantitative, exploratory, and cross-sectional study investigated the profile of 87 postpartum women and assessed their degree of satisfaction with health care during pregnancy, birth and puerperium. RESULTS: The postpartum women's age ranged from 20 to 29 years (47.1%). Almost all of them have a partner (90.8%) and most of them have completed high school (32.2%) and have a professional activity (42.5%). Most had up to two pregnancies (63.2%), and the cesarean section rate in the last delivery reached 40.2%. DISCUSSIONS: It was found that the mothers were more satisfied with the care received at the hospital compared to prenatal care, which was related to the presence of a companion during delivery and the permanent contact with the newborn. Information on breastfeeding was evaluated very satisfactorily, while the greatest dissatisfaction was related to the lack of opportunity to report feelings and concerns during prenatal care. CONCLUSIONS: These findings pointed out the relevance to approach emotional and relational issues during the prenatal care and delivery.
