MAIA, Kenia Soares y ZAMORA, Maria Helena Navas. Brazil and the racial logic: from whitening to the production of subjectivity of racism. Psicol. clin. [online]. 2018, vol.30, n.2, pp.265-286. ISSN 0103-5665. https://doi.org/10.33208/PC1980-5438v0030n02A04.
This work intends to analyze theoretically some of the ideas about race by Arthur de Gobineau, Nina Rodrigues and Oliveira Vianna, employing Michel Foucault's historical approach. Considering also the perspective of institutional analysis, the focus is on the development of rationales that engender ways of being and acting. The article briefly analyzes the ideas and institutions of the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries and their production of knowledge based on racist and seemingly scientific ideals. The politics of whitening, which was part of the racial logic, is emphasized in order to ponder its effects on the subjective reality of the black (and non-black) population in contemporary times.
