The author develops his ideas about the psychoanalytic interpretation considering its clinical practice as well as its value as a revelation of a latent sense. The interpretation depends essentially on the subjectivity of the analyst - i.e., the analyst’s way of being and thinking while working with the patient. Because of that, the interpretation is approached in the article based on André Green’s concept of “clinical thought”. It is desirable that the interpretation emerges from the latency where it was. This latent state is close to the idea of emptiness and vacuity, i.e., an emptiness that is potentially inhabited by meanings that are ready to be expressed. The clinical thought operates collaborating to this process. Therefore, it is essential to take into account the uncertainty and the gap between theory and clinic. The clinical thought work introduces a third element that allows the analyst to leave from a symbiotic and weak delimited relationship with the patient and to introduce words of interpretative value.
