Resumen

ZAIDAN, Eduardo  y  CINTRA, Elisa Maria de Ulhôa. Obsessive neurosis and narcissistic hate. J. psicanal. [online]. 2019, vol.52, n.96, pp.33-47. ISSN 0103-5835.

The Rat Man's case represents a turning point in Freudian metapsychology. Until that moment, psychoanalysis had as a touchstone a theory of the repression of desire, and hysteria was the paradigm of psychopathology. The study of obsessional neurosis, in turn, revealed the importance of hate. This article will present the story of the Rat Man and work on the hypothesis that, with the publication of "Instincts and their vicissitudes", paranoia came to be recognized as the core of subjectivity. Since the subject's differentiation from the object only happens through the emergence of hate, Freud will argue that hate is the forerunner of love. This article will illustrate, through the history of the Rat Man, the bond between hate and narcissism, revealing that paranoia is located in the heart of object relations.

Palabras clave : Rat Man; obsessive neurosis; hate; narcissism.
