ROCHA, Kátia Bones; MOREIRA, Mariana Calesso  y  OLIVEIRA, Viviane Ziebell de. Adolescent patients with cystic fibrosis. Aletheia [online]. 2004, n.20, pp.27-36. ISSN 1413-0394.

Adolescence is a period of development acompanied by important psychological, social and physical changes. This moment is a transition to adulthood. The present research investigates some repercussions a chronicle disease as the cystic fibrosis has in this process. Semi-directive interviews were realized with three adolescents with cystic fibrosis to understand theirs perceptions about puberty, and their future planning and treatment adherence. From this, we can perceive that the participants present difficulties with their sexuality, autonomy, independence, social relationships and treatment adherence. When adolescence starts, the young perceives the limitation that comes with the disease, and two different movements appear: adolescents who succeed at geeting alternatives in direction of adult life, acceptance of the pathology and the treatment and get a relative autonomy, and those who feel immobilized, with childlike links of dependence.

Palabras clave : Adolescence; Cystic fibrosis; Treatment adherence.
