This article presents an excerpt from the doctoral thesis entitled “Perceptions of early childhood teachers about gender, race relations and health” which has among its objectives to analyze the perceptions of early childhood teachers about race relations. The field research was conducted with fourteen teachers from two private schools and two municipal public schools in the municipality of Guarujá, on the coast of São Paulo, through a socioeconomic-cultural questionnaire and a semi-directed interview. The analysis and interpretation of information from the collected data were conducted from the perspective of content analysis, according to Bardin. In this section, we will present fragments based on the categorization of the thematic axis - Race relations, Racism at school, and the Invisibility of Rights. The results showed that the contents referring to the perception of race relations in the school environment suggest silencing in the face of situations of prejudice and discrimination. It is also worth noting the lack of knowledge of the majority of teachers about Law No. 10.639/2003.
