CUNHA, Maiara Pereira y BORGES, Lucienne Martis. Post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) in childhood and adolescence and their relation towards family violence. Bol. - Acad. Paul. Psicol. [online]. 2013, vol.33, n.85, pp.312-329. ISSN 1415-711X.
The present theoretical article about Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) in childhood and adolescence aimed to present observations which emphasize the following aspects: prevalence of PTSD in childhood and adolescence, relation of family violence X PTSD and comorbidities. The PTSD is classified as an anxiety disorder and its prevalence is of 6,5% in the Brazilian population. Family violence and its different expressions, be it physical, psychological, sexual and/or negligence can initiate PTSD on children and adolescents. Furthermore, when the referred disorder is developed, they may show comorbidities, being the most frequent: Mood Disorders, Anxiety Disorders and Attention Deficit and Diruptive Behavior Disorders. From these observations it is indispensable to think about the necessary referrals destined to children and adolescents in the attempt of minimizing the impact and its possible chronicity.
