DIAS, Jorge; GONCALVES, Rui Abrunhosa y FORMIGA, Nilton S.. The (Des) organization in urban City beach: Privileged context to transgression and juvenile delinquency?. Bol. - Acad. Paul. Psicol. [online]. 2014, vol.34, n.86, pp.186-207. ISSN 1415-711X.
In Cape Verde violence and juvenile delinquency have come to assume alarming proportions, as evidenced by official statistics (2005-2012) of the National Police (PN). This current work is reflected on the (dis) organized urban planning of the city of Praia and its subsequent social changes, in an effort to discuss whether these variables constitute facilitator contexts for transgression and crime in young adults. To this purpose, we started by revisiting the results of the "Juvenile Delinquency Transgression Paths in Young Adults in the city beach: Resulting of an Exploratory Study", a qualitative research conducted with young people in the city beach, which originated since 2008 and is still in progress. In recent years studies that aim to characterize the pathways of deviance and transgression of young people have been highlighted. Attending to the problem's complexity, intrinsically associated with the different modes of expression of delinquent activity and varied evolutionary tracks, reflections in this field are especially relevant. The results identify three main group factors that seem to be strongly determining of the involvement in criminal practices by young people: (1) the socio-economic precariousness, (2) the exacerbation of social inequalities and (3) the family dysfunctionality. Based on these findings, we discussed urban organization as a facilitating context of transgression and juvenile delinquency; therefore, besides psychosocial intervention programs, it has been discussed the necessity of developing urban requalification programs.
