Mercy is a religious and philosophical term, and can relate to ethics. In Psychology, it corresponds, in some measure, to forgiveness and pardon. As a religious term, its origin can be found in Hebrew and in Greek. To the philosophical discussion of the term contribute Aristotle, Aquinas, Spinoza, Schopenhauer, Nietzsche and Comte-Sponville. As a behavior, mercy includes perception, emotion, sentiment and attitude, and its direct relation to Psychology is discussed. Finally, its philosophical and theological dimension is strongly presented by Jon Sobrino, for whom mercy does not limit itself to the "works of mercy", but demands structural changes, among which changes in the role of the University
