NUNES SANTOS, Samantha et al. Psychological intervention in a Cardiologic Intensive Care Unit. Rev. SBPH [online]. 2011, vol.14, n.2, pp.50-66. ISSN 1516-0858.
The Intensive Care Unit (ICU) is a health care environment with a potential to disrupt emotional states that may interfere in the patient’s condition. The insertion of psychologists in this environment aims to identify and act upon issues that might interfere in the patient's adaptation to hospitalization and his recovery, thus contributing to the health promotion in this environment. The purpose of this paper is to describe the work developed by the psychology staff in the Cardiologic ICU of the University Hospital of Salvador, Bahia. Resources and interventions used to patients and their relatives’ assistance are described. This article aims to contribute to the practice of psychology professionals at the hospital and to disseminate this work to other specialties.
