GONCALVES, Bruno Simões. The Latin American Double Consciousness: contributions to a decolonized psychology. Rev. psicol. polít. [online]. 2016, vol.16, n.37, pp.397-413. ISSN 1519-549X.

The present article is the presentation of the Latin American double consciousness. The method used was a bibliographical research to different authors who work on the issue of coloniality and latin american decolonization The history of the territory which is nowadays called Latin America is established from the XVI century as a process of extreme social upheaval based on the structural violence between the colonizer and the colonized people. This structural tensioning is responsible for the formation of a double consciousness characterized by the overlapping between the coloniality of power and the critical miscegenation. The Latin American psychology should contribute to the processes of the decolonization of the different aspects that form coloniality. For that matter, it is necessary to create a decolonized psychology which may contribute to the transgression of the colonizing logic present in the double consciousness. To do so, it must promote both the recuperation of the historical memories of the colonized people and the articulation of their instituted knowledge and insights.

Palabras clave : Latin American Double Consciousness; Decolonization Coloniality of Power; Critical Miscegenation.
