Resumen

MANSANO, Sonia Regina Vargas; CARVALHO, Paulo Roberto  y  CARVALHAES, Flávia Fernandes de. Pandemic, governmentality and biopolitics: life in dispute. Rev. psicol. polít. [online]. 2021, vol.21, n.51, pp.305-321. ISSN 2175-1390.

The Covid-19 pandemic, decreed in 2020, generated a series of government actions that affected different segments of the population. Daily life was modified by practices previously unthinkable in the current capitalist order: deceleration of the productive forces, social isolation and distance. Given this scenario, the study aimed to analyze the political clashes that occurred in a medium-sized city located in the state of Paraná. The data, collected in local digital newspapers, gave visibility to different nuances of these clashes. Adopting the concepts of governmentality and biopolitics as analytical guidelines, it was possible to demonstrate how much the notion of life became the subject of dispute between deferent institutional powers, at the same time that this problem affected the population as a whole. As a conclusion it is shown that the analyzed government clashes are still far from a resolution and that biopolitical practices have gained centrality in the pandemic.

Palabras clave : Governmentality; Society; Biopolitics; Pandemic; Covid-19.
