Resumen

SALVADOR-SILVA, Roberta et al. Psychopathy and interpersonal behaviors in detainees: a correlational study. Aval. psicol. [online]. 2012, vol.11, n.2, pp.239-245. ISSN 1677-0471.

The aim of this study was to investigate the relationship between psychopathy and the manifestation of interpersonal behaviors in 23 detainees, in a metropolitan area prison. The Hare PCL-R, which is used for the diagnosis of psychopathy, and the Interpersonal Measure of Psychopathy (IM-P), which is used for the measurement of interpersonal behavior expressed by participants in the interaction with the interviewer, were applied simultaneously by independent evaluators. The results showed statistically significant correlations between the total scores of the PCL-R and the IM-P, between the total scores of the IM-P and the factor 1 of the PCL-R, and a non-significant correlation with factor 2, indicating that the IM-P may be considered an auxiliary instrument for psychopathy assessment.

Palabras clave : psychopathy; interpersonal behavior; hare (PCL-R); IM-P; psychological assessment.
