The aim of this paper is to introduce an experience of psychological attention to the onco-hematology nursing staff and to clarify personal and social factors that may influence them coping with difficulties at work. The psychological supportive group took place at a unit of intensive care at a general hospital and focused on professional, familial, social, educational, affective, and religious aspects. The importance of focusing participants’ conscious attitudes is emphasized as a strategy to favor group compliance. Results evidence that the participants show several impairments in their psychosocial adjustment. The findings highlighted the effectiveness of the group as a psychological support resource for questions related to occupational distress, once the group allows participants share their emotions with others members of professional staff who go through similar situation and at the same time they feel understood and supported by colleagues.
