This article discusses the reality of a small municipality in São Paulo state in relation to the ambulatory care offered by the mental health service, as well as its progresses, difficulties and needs after the implementation of the law aiming at the process of Psychiatric Reform in Brazil. From the review of the literature about the Psychiatric Reform and legal documentation on Mental Health policy formulated in Brazil in recent years, one can analyse the Mental Health Service in this municipality. It was noticed that there is a lot to be done in other to promote an effective inclusion of people with mental disorders in society. The municipality needs to implement communication among services and offer them more effectively.
