Resumen

SARRIERA, Jorge Castellá; PARADISO, Ângela Carina; SCHUTZ, Fabiane Friedrich  y  HOWES, Gabriella Pérez. A comparative study of students' adaptation to university contexts. Rev. bras. orientac. prof [online]. 2012, vol.13, n.2, pp.163-172. ISSN 1984-7270.

This study aimed at comparing possible differences in university students' adaptation to institutions and identifying the profile of students from each institution in terms of personal variables and level of university's adaptation. The participants were 273 students from three universities who responded to the Academic Experiences Questionnaire (AEQ - Reduced Version) and the Questionnaire of Personal Data. Analysis of variance identified significant differences in three dimensions of the AEQ - Reduced Version (Personal, Study and Institutional). Discriminant analysis classified 61.2% of cases into two functions with explained variance of 76.3% for the first function. The discriminant profiles are analyzed and discussed. Results show that specific characteristics, personal and institutional, are relevant for students' better adaptation to university contexts.

Palabras clave : college students; higher education; professional development; academic experiences.
