GONCALVES DANTAS, Ana Cristina. Personality, attribution styles and social abilities in adolescents. Ciênc. cogn. [online]. 2006, vol.7, n.1, pp.14-26. ISSN 1806-5821.

Personality traits and attribution styles were examined to detect their possible interactions with adolescent's social abilities. The sample was restricted to adolescents receiving assistance from a Private Institution dedicated to Social Care that took care of a 800 families community in Rio de Janeiro State. There were 20 male adolescents and 40 female adolescents, whose age varied from 16 to 19 and formal education from elementary to high school level. Four instruments were used: the Comrey Personality Scale, the Causal Attribution Test, the Control Scale and the Social Abilities Inventory. Preliminary results show an equilibrium on intraversion and extroversion when compared by sex. © Ciências & Cognição 2006; Vol. 07: 14-26.

Palabras clave : introversion; extroversion; attribution styles; social abilities; adolescence.
