Resumen

PINHO, Vanessa Dordron de  y  FALCONE, Eliane Mary de Oliveira. Qualitative study on facilitating and hindering factors of interpersonal forgiveness. Estud. pesqui. psicol. [online]. 2018, vol.18, n.1, pp.189-208. ISSN 1808-4281.

Many researches evidence the association of interpersonal forgiveness with physical, psychological, social and evolutionary benefits. Given the relevance of this phenomenon and the lack of studies on the subject in the national context, it is important to know variables that promote or inhibit its occurrence. The present work aimed to explore factors that facilitate or hinder forgiveness in real experiences of lived hurt. The sample consisted of 20 adults (15 women), with an average age of 36 years old, living in the state of Rio de Janeiro. For data collection, a previously prepared semi-structured interview was used. The interviews were audio recorded and transcribed. Then, the qualitative method of content analysis was used. It was found, among the results, that victim variables were more relevant to the occurrence of forgiveness than offender or offense variables. Empathy and resilience stood out among the facilitators. It is supposed that developing victim's personal skills is a promising way to promote interpersonal forgiveness.

Palabras clave : interpersonal forgiveness; empathy; resilience.
